ATTRACTIONS

BENALMADENA CABLE CAR

Situated right next to Tivoli World, the Benalmadena Cable Car runs to the summit of Monte Calamorro.  From the top you can enjoy fantastic vies over the Costa del Sol, Sierra Nevada and on clear days of Gibraltar and the North African coast.  Each of the cars has space for four people and the journey takes approximately 15 minutes.  At the top there is a cafeteria with terrace overlooking the coast.  Donkey rides, exhibition of birds of prey and Spanish horse riding exhibitions are included in the price of the ticket.  For those who are feeling more energetic there are paths to walk back down or even to mountain bike down.  The cable cars can carry bikes.

CROCODILE PARK

Situated in lively Torremolinos in the heart of the Costa del Sol. The Crocodile Park houses prehistoric creatures which have miraculously survived 200 million years of evolution. These carnivores knew the dinosaurs and use the same cold, merciless hunting techniques.

From a distance of less than 2 metres, you can wonder at the gigantic crocodiles by silently walking beside them, observing the secrets of one of the  most fascinating creatures of our world.

 FUENGIROLA ZOO                                   WELL WORTH A VISIT

During July and August the zoo is open at night giving a chance to see nocturnal animals by moonlight.

Set amidst tropical forests of Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and south-east Asia, this zoo is designed to replicate the natural habitat of each of the animal species living here. Large areas have been created in which water and vegetation are plentiful - rivers, gigantic trees, waterfalls, bamboo-shrouded temples, hanging bridges and abandoned mines.

HORSE RACING                             

There is a new horse racing track "The Hippodromo" at La Cala de Mijas, approximately 15 minutes from Calahonda. 

There is evening horse racing most Saturday nights during July & August and on Sunday afternoons in the winter months, there are numerous restaurants and bars actually in the complex, riding lessons are available for all abilities.

 MIJAS AQUAPARK

The Mijas Aqua Park is located in Fuengirola just off the main Costa del Sol road.  There are buses every 30 min from the Fuengirola bus station or alternatively you can walk from either the bus or train station in less than 20 minutes.  Apart from the range of water slides there is a wave pool, a Jacuzzi, a lake for swimming in and an area of slides for kids.  There is also a games arcade, a picnic area and restaurants. 

Mijas Aquapark is open daily from 24^th April till 1^st October from 10am till 6pm or 7pm in July and August - For more information Tel: 952 460 404.

SEALIFE CENTRE                               

Benalmadena Sea Life Aquarium is located next to the Marina in Benalmadena and can be reached by the bus which runs from most of the resorts along the coast.  It contains a shark reef, a tank with rays, a sea snake enclosure and various other displays.  They only display creatures which will be happy and flourish in this environment so this means there are no dolphins or whales as they would not do so.  Sea life is committed to promoting education and awareness of the world's oceans and they encourage this by involving visitors in the interactive area and by allowing some people to help at feeding times.

SELWO MARINA

Selwo Marina can be found just one street back from the sea front in Benalmadena Costa opposite the Parque de la Paloma. 

Selwo Marina has created an environment where you can come to experience some of the marine life of South America.  There is a Dolphinarium housing dolphins and sea lions with different pools and walkways allowing you to look in from above and also a viewing area allowing you to see their under water behaviour.  The Ice Island is home to an extensive range of species of penguins and Amazonia takes you to the tropical jungle and the marine life there.  There is also a children’s playground, a touch and explore pool and many other areas to enjoy.

Selwo Marina is open every day from February 12^th October 31^st from 10am.  In November it is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and in December it is open every day from the 1^st to the 10^th.

TIVOLI WORLD

Tivoli World Amusement Park is located in Arroyo da le Miel, 2 km inland from Benalmadena Costa, and can be reached by the train which runs from Malaga to Fuengirola or by bus from most resorts along the coast.  It is the biggest amusement park on the Costa del Sol and offers both rides and varied program of shows including flamenco and wild west shows. 

An area of the park is called Tivolandia which is specially for the younger children.

In May it opens from 1pm to 9pm (11pm at weekends), in June it opens from 4 or 5pm to midnight and in July/August and the first half of September it opens from 6pm to 2am.  Tel: 902 114 700 or 952 577 016.
